Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California expressed today that his state should consider changing its taxation system to flat income tax.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that he would like to see such “radical” proposals come out of a commission now studying an overhaul of the state’s tax system. The governor told the editorial board of the Sacramento Bee that he hoped the commission would not be afraid to propose something like “a 15%  straight tax.”
“That’s the …

In wake of severing insanity of the Prime Minister, it’s appropriate to look a little back in history and take a peek at what was said about him before he become the PM.
Former Home Secretary Charles Clarke said in September 2006 that Gordon Brown has psychological issues and he’s deluded:
He says the Chancellor has “psychological” issues that he must confront and accuses him of being a “control freak” and “totally uncollegiate”.
Mr Brown is also “deluded”, …

The Conservative Party gained control of Staffordshire council for the first time since 1977, that is after 32 years. Lancashire and Derbyshire councils have been in Labour’s hands for 28 years, and yesterda Conservatives won those, too.
David Cameron said the results are remarkable. “The Conservative Party have won all over the country – from Lancashire to Devon and Somerset to Derbyshire” – and he hailed the efforts of Conservative supporters across the country.
In the South …

As 19 of 34 councils have officially declared results of yesterday’s local elections, the Tories have so far gained six councils and 166 seats, we learn from this BBC overview. The devastated Labour has, on the other hand, lost four councils and 152 councillors.
Also LibDems aren’t doing well – they lost one council and 29 seats.
Interestingly, UKIP got their first four seats in local elections. Perhaps people were confused and thought they’re filling the European …

So the sixth minister in last four days, and already third today, resigned. Caroline Flint quit as Europe Minister and Glenys Kinnock is taking her place.
She resigned at the same time Gordon Brown was having a press conference after not being offered a Cabinet position in the reshuffle.
I’m afraid the day isn’t over yet and we could see more resignations. But the one people anticipate the most won’t, naturally, come.
UPDATE
Iain Dale has Caroline Flint’s resignation …

It was quite interesting to see US President Barack Obama visiting Buchenwald concentration camp today and saying that the camp “is the ultimate rebuke” to those who deny the Holocaust.
Obama said people today have a duty to confront those who deny such concentration camps existed, adding that he would “never forget what I’ve seen here today.”
It’s interesting because only yesterday he performed the biggest arse-kissing (pardon for the expression) of Muslims’ in the entire …

Prime Minister Gordon Brown held a surprise press conference today after five of his Cabinet’s ministers had quit in last four days and after the devastating loss Labour suffered in yesterday’s local and European Elections. But as I was sure not to get my hopes up for anything, I was right. There’s nothing new with Gordon Brown.
See, the idiot has totally lost touch with reality. He’s so stupid he doesn’t understand the chaos, he just …

Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon announced today his resignation, The Times reports, bringing the total of recently resigned ministers to five. But also like John Hutton, he doesn’t call Gordon Brown to resign, and moreover, he’s going to remain active as international adviser for Brown.
Downing Street said that Mr Hoon’s departure was agreed and he wil be taking on two international advisory advisory roles for Mr Brown: one preparing for the Copenhagen summit on …

The situation is getting worse by the minutes for Gordon Brown, as yet another high-level cabinet member resigned today. Defence Secretary John Hutton announced that he was standing down, The Times reports, just less than a day after the resignation of Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell.
But unlike Mr Purnell, who called upon Gordon to resign, Hutton is publicly saying that he supports the Prime Minister.
“My decision is a personal one,” Mr Hutton told BBC …

As you can see, it’s slightly different now. There’s a new domain name, which now associates more with Britain and the name of the site. The name itself is also a bit different from old “The Chronicles from the Empire”, the reason for that is, the new name, “The Empire Chronicles” is shorter, more comfortable and sounds like a name for a newspaper or a magazine.
Also the contents will be a little bit more diverse. …

Former chairman of the Conservatives and a Cabinet minister, Lord Tebbit compared Islamic sharia law and sharia courts to gangsters, triggering the anger of Muslims, Daily Mail reports.
He likened the tribunals to the ’system of arbitration of disputes that was run by the Kray brothers’.
Lord Tebbit told the Lords: ‘Are you not aware that there is extreme pressure put upon vulnerable women to go through a form of arbitration that results in them being virtually …

Prime Minister, still in shock from yesterday’s news of James Purnell leaving, is now going to leave Alistair Darling as the Chancellor, according to the Times, considering it would be too much of a risk to replace him now, after so many Cabinet members have resigned.
The Prime Minister’s authority has been damaged so much by this week’s spate of Cabinet resignations that he has accepted that he cannot go through with his plan to install …

I had a snap poll yesteday where I asked you, how did you vote. Considering the profile of this blog, it wasn’t surprising. 51% or 200 respondents said they voted for Conservatives. 22%, or 86 people said they voted for UKIP and 13% or 49 people voted for LibDems.
Labour suffered a devastating defeat yesterday in polling stations and also here – only 8% of people, 32 of them said they voted for Labour. Of course, …

“But from speaking to people on the doorstep, as I have, it’s quite clear that people are saying we’ve got a Prime Minister who’s got strength, determination and intelligence and Gordon Brown will lead us out of this recession.”
That brilliant joke was told by Dawn Primarolo, the Labour MP for Bristol South. It’s good to see that they haven’t lost their sense of humour even in a situation like this.

In wake of James Purnell’s resignation from the Cabinet, Tory leader David Cameron again, calls for eletion:
David said, “In a deep recession and political crisis we need a strong Government. Instead we have a Government falling apart in front of our eyes.  Britain deserves better than this.”
And he stressed, “With this resignation the argument for a general election has gone from being strong and powerful to completely unanswerable.  For the sake of the country Gordon …
