Iranian volunteer-based paramilitary force Basij shot a young woman dead in Tehran today.
According to a description posted in Facebook and circulating around in blogs, a young woman who was standing aside with her father was shot by a Basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house.

Witnesses say police are using tear gas and water cannons to disperse thousands of protesters rallying in Tehran, the AP reports.
Eyewitnesses told the news agency that the protesters gathered in central Tehran in open defiance of the cleric-led government. About 3,000 protesters chanted “Death to the dictator!” and “Death to dictatorship!” near Revolution Square in central Tehran. Police confronted them by using tear gas and water cannon.

Sebastian Vettel on Red Bull will start on pole position on tomorrow’s British GP at Silvestone.
Vettel won the qualifying with 1:19.509. Brawn’s Rubens Barrichello came second, his time was 0.347 seconds slower. Mark Webber on Red Bull came third with 0.359 seconds slower than Vettel.
Current Championship leader Jenson Button finished 6th at qualifying with 0.780 seconds slower than Vettel.

Iran’s police threaten people with violence, saying they’re ready to use force to prevent an opposition rally in Tehran.
Hundreds of police have gathered in the city centre, amid an atmosphere of extreme tension, the BBC reports.
People contacting the BBC from Tehran spoke of a heavy security presence in the area around Enghelab Square. Users of the micro-blogging site Twitter said protesters were gathering.

President of FIA, Max Mosley called some of the Formula One teams who threaten to break away from FIA-led F1 championship “loonies”.
In an interview to BBC, which was aired today, Mosley said thathe had reached an agreement with some F1 teams, but “the others – what we call the loonies – tore it up”.

Coalition troops have started the withdrawal from Iraq, as US combat troops started withdrawing from cities.
US combat forces must leave urban centres by 30th June, and the entire force must be gone by 2012, according to a security pact signed between US and Iraq last year.

Prime minister Gordon Brown says he’s hurt by the personal attacks on him, he also says that he could “walk away from the office” tomorrow.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
The plane was 10 minutes away from landing at Santa Monica airport, when the pilot reported smoke coming from an instrument panel, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The pilot made a quick, steep, but sade landing at 18:23 at Van Nuys Airport in the San Fernando Valley.

According to a report by analyst firm Strategy Analytics, 95 percent of South Korea’s households access the internet via boardband, the UK is at 14th place with 67%.
Strategy Analytics analyzed household broadband access in 58 countries worldwide.
Singapore came 2nd with 88%, Netherlands 3rd with 85%.
Israel is 7th with 77%, Finland 12th with 69%, Estonia 18th with 62%.

Apple CEO Steve jobs had a liver transplant about two months ago and is expected to return to work later this month.
According to BBC report, Jobs would return to his job on schedule, but may initially work only part-time.
Jobs ceased his normal management role more than five months ago. In January he announced that he was being treated for a hormone imbalance, and had been losing weight throughout 2008.

The protests and unrest in Iran are going to continue despite of yesterdays threats made by country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
On Saturday an opposition rally will take place, the wife of the defeated presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard, and an aide to another candidate, Mehdi Karroubi, said, according to the BBC.
