It’s claimed that former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who took the country to the war in Iraq, urged his successor Gordon Brown to keep the war inquiry secred amid fears of a “show trial”, the Telegraph reports.
According to the report, he is said to have communicated his view to Mr Brown via the Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O’Donnell, fearing that a direct conversation would be leaked.

Newspapers are reporting that according to Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, the tame racing driver Stig will be unmasked tonight, when new series of Top Gear begins.

The new potential speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow says that Members of Parliament should earn at least £100,000 a year.
Conservative Bercow is regarded as favourite to win tomorrow’s vote on a new Speaker. However, his backing comes almost entirely from the Labour Party, the Daily Mail reports.

According to some Labour sources, Prime Minister Gordon Brown may agree to step down before the next General Election to avoid a humiliating defeat by David Cameron, the Daily Mail reports.

According to Iranian state media, 13 more people were killed in confrontations between protesters and security forces, this brings official death toll for the last week to at least 20.
English-language Press TV said 13 people it called “terrorists” died Saturday in clashes between demonstrators contesting the result of the June 12 election and black-clad police wielding truncheons, tear gas and water cannons, the AP reports.
