Berlusconi’s sweeping victory at local elections
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi enjoyed a resounding victory in provincial elections after Italians overlooked the allegations of sleaze swirling around him, the Telegraph reports.
In a key test of whether Berlusconi had been harmed politically by a series of scandals involving his links to a string of young women, Italians voted in local elections and handed nine more provinces to his centre-Right People of Freedom party.
That pretty much shows that Italians are sensible people who know which side of the political spectre can manage the country and local councils properly. Despite of the fact that the leader of that side loves women, perhaps a little too much.
But hey, world’s oldest man says his secret to longevity is “cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women”. Perhaps Berlucsoni just wants to live to a very old age.
