Supreme court orders new investigation in Politkovskaya murder
The supreme court of Russia annulled the not guilty verdict handed to all suspects of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya and ordered a new investigation into the matter, Russian news agencies report.
In Febryary, the four men who were accused in murdering Politkovskaya, were found not guilty. Politkovskaya was brutally murdered in her Moscow apartment building on 7th October, 2006.
The supreme court accepted a complaint by the prosecution, which demanded cancellation of the verdicts and a new investigation.
Politkovskaya was an investigative journalists who was highly critical of Russian ex-President and present Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
