Sarah Palin to pursue “a higher calling”
It was indeed a shock yesterday to learn that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has announced her resignation. No reason for the resignation, 18 months before it’s due, was given, and the only thing former running mate of John McCain said was that she was free to pursue “a higher calling”.
Palin posted this message on her Facebook page, and her spokesman confirmed the message was authentic.
She also said that she was “now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together”.
There have been speculation that she might be preparing to make a bid for the White House in 2012. But it’s definitely too early to quit the Governor’s job for that now. And because there was no explanation, people are also speculating that there might have been another reason for the resignation.
After her announcement rumors started to spread on the internet that she might be under investigation by the FBI on public corruption charges. Fortunately, the FBI confirmed that they’re not investigating Palin.
But one thing is certain – a person does not give up a Governor’s job 18 months before time for no reason. Whatever her higher calling could be, we’ll soon find out.
