Million Britons have lived on dole for 12 years (or more)
More than one million jobless Britons have been living off state handouts for more than 12 years – a hardcore army of unemployed have failed to find any sort of work since Labour came to power in 1997, the Daily Mail reports.
A further 1.9million have been on benefits for seven years or more, according to the Department of Work and Pensions.
The 1.1million unemployed since 1997 amounts to more than a fifth of the 5.2million currently claiming out-of-work benefits, the newspaper says.
The figures also reveal that youth employment has soared under Labour from 665,000 in 1997 to 888,000 today – a staggering 34 per cent.
Official statistics show that the gap between rich and poor has widened under Labour, with the poorest 10 per cent forced to survive on an income of just £87-aweek compared to £96 in 1997.
12 years of Labour. Do you really want another five years? Or perhaps another five after that, too?
But what is even more astonishing than the disaster Labour have brought upon this country, is the fact that 1.1 million people don’t even bother to look for jobs, they’re happy enough to live off taxpayers’ money, claiming dole and other benefits, which apparently are big enough for them to manage.
How can this be possible? Dole cannot be big enough for people to manage, especially for 12 years, dole has to be as minimal as possible so that there would always be an incentive to look for a proper job. Otherwise you get 1.1 million lazy twats who don’t work, live in council houses, but drive around in newish cars (just take a look in front of any council house).
