Trip to Wales, day 4
The last day of our road trip in Wales started off with the toughest task yet – a walk in Snowdonia. Two roads to the peak of Snowdon start at Pen-y-Bass near Llanberis, one was 7 and one 8 miles long (there and back). Unfortunately, the parking lot at Pen-y-Bass was already full in the early morning, so we parked about 2-3 miles towards Llanberis at a layby, and took a bus from there back to Pen-y-Bass.
We didn’t even plan to climb ump the mountain, we just wanted to take a nice refreshing walk in the mountains and smell the clean air of Welsh Highlands. So we took the longer route and just walked a bit.
After the walk, which was about 4 miles, we started heading towards Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which was recently added to UNESCO world heritage list. On the way there, still in Snowdonia National Park, there was The Ugly House.
And just next to The Ugly House, another ancient stone bridge.
And here’s the famous aqueduct at Pontcysyllte.
And that concluded our trip to Wales – a few miles from Pontcysyllte we re-entered England and headed back to London. It was a nice trip, except for those bloody midges.
