KKK member hides from US authorities in… Israel!

14th July 2009 By Sten 2 Comments

A Ku Klux Klan member, American white supremacist and one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, 33-year-old Micky Louis Mayon found almost a perfect place on Earth to hide from the US authorities – he figured that the last place anyone would look for him would be Israel. He was right for more than a year, until today his luck ran out.

The Israeli immigration authorities captured Mayon today from a hostel room in Tel Aviv he checked in yesterday evening. The authorities told Jerusalem Post that Mayon didn’t resist arrest, adding that seven officers entered his hostel room to make the arrest.

He arrived in Israel in January 2008 on a one month tourist visa, and became an illegal immigrant after the visa expired. Though he entered using his own passport, it was unclear whether his entry into the country was a result of a miscommunication between US and Israeli authorities, the newspaper says.

With the help of an Israeli friend, Mayon took up odd jobs to survive in Tel Aviv, such as washing dishes, while also receiving money from his parents, who knew of his whereabouts.

But now, his story gets even more remarkable. Around four months ago, the white supremacist and a member of a racist organisation Ku Klux Klan entered into a romantic relationship with a Jewish Israeli woman, who became pregnant one month ago.

Mayon did not tell his partner about the fact that he was a wanted KKK member back in the US, but after learning that his girlfriend was pregnant, Mayon decided it was time to reveal his dark past to her, and she reportedly reacted with shock, and went on to tip off the authorities to Mayon’s location.

In some ways you have to admire the nerve of the guy. Thank goodness he has been captured.
