Spaniard to become youngest ever F1 driver
Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari is going to be the youngest driver to participate in a Formula One Grand Prix in the history, when he makes his debut at the Hungaroring on Sunday, the Telegraph reports.
“I am aware that I’m facing a very tough challenge, because coming into Formula One is never easy, coming into Formula One in the middle of a season is even harder and doing so without any testing is really difficult,” 19-year-old Alguersuari, who replaces Sebastien Bourdais of Toro Rosso, said.
“But already I feel that I am getting great support from the team, who have quite a reputation for looking after rookie drivers,” he added.
Alguersuari has competed in 118 races from junior karting to Formula 3 and Formula Renault. He has had 17 victories and 36 podium finishes.
Toro Rosso sacked Sebastien Bourdais last week following his lacklustre performances this year. Bourdais is threatening legal action against the team.
