Cleric: cutting off limbs as punishment would make Britain safer
The founder of the country’s oldest sharia court, “sheikh” Suhaib Hasan thinks that hardline islamic penal codes – such as amputation of limbs as punishment for theft – would make Britain safer and better place.
Hasan, the secretary of the Islamic Sharia Council, said that the enforcement of such laws was “something to bring you more peace and security”, the Times reports.
Hasan emphasised, however, that he neither sought nor expected the implementation of the criminal penal code in Britain because it was not a Muslim country. But he said that problems such as knife crime would be better resolved if harsher punishments were meted out because they worked as a deterrent.
What I don’t understand is, if Britain is such a bad and unsafe place that it needs to become better and safer, then why does he continue to live here and won’t go back to his native Pakistan or to Saudi Arabia, where he studied the pleasures of sharia. He could enjoy the ultimate fairness of sharia in both of those good and safe countries, I’m sure.
