Sex-attacker walks free, because Australians are cheap
An suspected sex attacker is living as a free man in the UK because Australian police say it is too expensive to extradite him, the Daily Mail reports.
Scots-born James O’Brien McCulloch fled to Britain three years ago after being charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl just yards from her home.
Australian police say he is now living freely in the UK and will only be arrested if he ever returns to the country.
McCulloch, 52, was said to have been drunk when he stalked his teenage victim and grabbed her in a headlock in Sunbury, Victoria, in the early hours of 12th March, 2005. The teenager was subjected to a vicious sexual assault but she screamed and fought for her life, eventually managing to escape.
Sgt Creina O’Grady, spokesman for Victoria Police, confirmed McCulloch would not be extradited, saying “the cost” was a factor.
