Gibraltar gets a new Governor
UK overseas territory of Gibraltar will get a new Governor next week, current Governor, Sir Robert Fulton will be leaving his post tomorrow.
According to the Gibraltar Chronicle, Sir Robert will depart Gibraltar on board HMS Sutherland at 10:00am on tomorrow. A departure ceremony will be held at The Tower immediately beforehand, during which Sir Robert will bid farewell to the Chief Minister Peter Caruana, the Commander British Forces Adrian Bell and a small number of other VIP invitees. The Royal Gibraltar Regiment will provide a Guard of Honour.
Following the departure, HMS Sutherland and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment will exchange a 17 gun salute. Gibraltar Squadron and the Gibraltar Service Police will provide an escort for HMS Sutherland.
Next Thursday, the 29th October, new Governor, Vice-Admiral Sir Adrian Johns will take over Her Majesty’s representation in Gibraltar. Sir Adrian was appointed as Governor of Gibraltar this summer. He is a senior officer in the Royal Navy and was until recently the Second Sea Lord.
