Germany’s conservatives of Christian Democratic Union-Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) and the pro-business centre-right liberals of Free Democrats (FDP) struck a deal yesterday to form a new coalition Government, based on major tax cut plans, Deutsche Welle reports.
The agreement came after three weeks of bargaining and almost a month after Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives and the FDP won a parliamentary majority in federal elections.

A water buffalo which had wandered onto the rail track caused a deadly collision between two passenger trains in Egypt today, 18 people were killed and 39 injured, SkyNews reports.
The crash happened south-west of the capital Cairo.

A team of UN inspectors are in Iran to visit a recently revealed but still unfinished uranium enrichment facility near the holy city of Qom to verify it is for peaceful purposes, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Britain has 1.6million hardened criminals committing dozens of offences every year, the Daily Mail reports.
The total, based on unpublished Home Office research, represents a leap of 410,000 in the number of so-called active offenders regularly inflicting misery.

A performance by Morrissey had to be cancelled last night after the singer collapsed on stage after just one song, the Daily Telegraph reports.
