Scottish Parliament given powers to cut income tax

25th November 2009 By Sten No Comment

Scotland is to be handed sweeping new powers from the Government in its biggest power grab since devolution ten years ago, including powers to cut income tax, the Daily Mail reports.

Nationalist ministers will be able to set drink-drive and speed limits, air gun controls as well as controversially having an unprecedented control of taxation – including stamp duty.

Holyrood will seize a 10% share of all income tax raised in Scotland – being allowed to raise or lower the level and keep the money. The move will dramatically lower the amount of tax flowing into Treasury coffers from Scotland.

Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy said Holyrood would also be given responsibility for a range of other taxes, including stamp duty.

God save us from this one-eyed Scottish idiot at No 10 before he destroys the UNITED Kingdom.
