Tories send “politically correct” Christmas cards with no mention to Christmas
This year’s Christmas cards from the Conservative Party do not bear the word “Christmas” on them, instead they have the message “Season’s Greetings”.
The Christmas cards, which are available on the party’s website, avoid all religious imagery – preferring generic winter scenes and pictures of robins to pictures of Jesus and the Three Kings, and the word “Christmas” does not appear on them at all, the Daily Mail reports.
Yesterday, Tory back-benchers were furious with indications that their party is becoming so politically correct.
“If this decision has been made on a PC basis it would be totally unacceptable and I would be extremely saddened,” Philip Davies, MP for Shipley, said. “This kind of pandering to extreme elements of the PC brigade is not something I
would envisage from the Conservative Party. I have yet to meet anyone of any religion who is offended by people in this country celebrating Christmas.”
“The only people who complain are those who get offended on other people’s behalf: the white middle-class Guardian-reading left-wing do-gooders with a misguided guilt complex and too much time on their hands,” he added.
And Philip Davies is so correct. Normal people, no matter what religion they affiliate with, realise that they live in a Christian country. Even the idiot at No 10 has said that this is (still) a Christian country (who knows what he really believes, but still).
I have many friends of many religions. And even the ones in the United States, which is a country of all religions, acknowledge that they live in a Christian country and do not get offended when they receive a Christmas greeting, even though they don’t celebrate it. And why should they? They know that they live in a country where the majority are Christians, and they do it by their own choice.
And it’s particularly sad to see the Conservatives resorting to such idiotic PC measures. One would think it’s something Labour or other lefties do. Besides, the UK is one of the few countries in the world where there is official state religion. And that is Anglican Christianity.
Why are the Conservative Party abandoning their core value – conservativism?
