BNP would give Gibraltar to Spain

The British National Party (BNP) would hand the key outpost of Gibraltar to Spain in an astonishing betrayal of its 30,000 British citizens, the Sun reports.
The move would also deprive the UK of a naval base – defended bitterly for more than 300 years – of huge strategic importance.

Gibraltar gets a new Governor

UK overseas territory of Gibraltar will get a new Governor next week, current Governor, Sir Robert Fulton will be leaving his post tomorrow.
According to the Gibraltar Chronicle, Sir Robert will depart Gibraltar on board HMS Sutherland at 10:00am on tomorrow. A departure ceremony will be held at The Tower immediately beforehand, during which Sir Robert will bid farewell to the Chief Minister Peter Caruana, the Commander British Forces Adrian Bell and a small number of other …

Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos will tbe the first Spanish minister to visit the UK dependancy of Gibraltar since 1704 when the territory became British under the Treaty of Utrecht.
Moratinos is going to meet his British counterpart David Miliband and Gibraltar’s chief minister Peter Caruana tomorrow, Reuters reports.

After yesterday’s day trip to Gibraltar I’m happy to report that it’s still there and still as it was in September. Petrol, cigarettes and alcohol is still cheap, litre of petrol 95 Euro costs 63p and pack of Gauloises £1.40.
The monkeys are still there, and there are many of them. Locals say that nowadays there are so many of them that they’ve become a menace and are being put away. That, of course, sparks protests. …
