Spain’s communist Government – unfortunately the current holders of European Union’s rotating presidency, want the EU to go forward with improving relations with communist Cuba, despite a row after Havana’s refusal to grant entry to a Spanish member of the European Parliament.

Police seize £375m worth of cocaine destined for London

Scotland Yard and Spanish police seized cocaine with a street value of £375million from a yacht off the coast of northern Spain, Sky News reports; it’s believed that the vast majority of the drugs were destined for London.
At least 1.5 tonnes of the drug were found hidden on board The Destiny Express after it was boarded by Spanish police 200 miles off the Iberian coast.

Catalonia to ban the best entertainment in Spain – bullfighting

Spanish region of Catalonia is set to become the first comunidad in the country to ban the best entertainment Spain can offer – bullfighting.
The area’s regional Parliament today took a major step towards outlawing the tradition by voting 67 to 59 (with five abstentions) to draw up a law calling for fighting bulls to be protected in the same way as other animals, the Daily Mail reports.

A runaway cat from Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, got on a ferry from Portsmouth and was discovered four days later in Spanish port town of Bilbao.

Spanish police have arrested nine men suspected of seeking to have a woman killed after they accused her of adultery, claiming they were following sharia law.
The men were arrested on 14th November and seven have been held in jail, news channel al-Arabiya reports.
According to police, the woman had been taken in March and held in an isolated house in Valls in northeastern Catalonia.

BNP would give Gibraltar to Spain

The British National Party (BNP) would hand the key outpost of Gibraltar to Spain in an astonishing betrayal of its 30,000 British citizens, the Sun reports.

Not only are the Spanish Government hopeless communists, they’re also hopeless idiots. Because there is no other way to explain the measures they approved today.

The socialist government of the Spanish region of Extremadura, otherwise known as a bunch of idiots, have launched a 14,000 euro (£12,600) campaign aimed at teaching children “self-pleasure”, or, more bluntly, masturbation.

A 700-year-old Torah scroll adorned with mystical kabbalist designs will be put up for sale by Sotheby’s on 24th November, Ha’aretz reports.
The scroll, which experts think is the oldest surviving Torah from the Golden Age of Spain, will be offered for purchase based on an appraised value of $300,000 to $500,000. It is one of several items of Judaica that will be on offer.

Spain to exhume the grave of Garcia Lorca

Spanish archaeologists are preparing to exhume a civil-war era grave believed to hold the remains of the acclaimed poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, the AP reports.
The Government of Andalucia region says the exhumation will begin today. It will mark the highest-profile step yet in a decade-old drive for Spain to address atrocities committed against civilians during and after the 1936-39 war.

Mother of small child named “political” chief of terror organisation

Mother of a small child, Iratxe Sorzabal Diaz, has been named as the “political” chief of the Basque terrorist organisation ETA.
Former “political” chief of ETA, Aitor Elizarán Aguilar, was arrested yesterday in northwest France.
Sorzabal is the most significant member of ETA’s ideological structure, The Times reports. Her appointment means that women are wresting power from men inside an organisation described by a senior anti-terrorism source as “traditionally macho”.

French police have arrested two suspected terror group ETA members, including a senior political leader of the Basque separatist group, Aitor Elizaran Aguilar, the BBC reports.
Elizaran is a joint political chief of the group. He was arrested with another senior member, Oihana San Vicente, in the north-western seaside town of Carnac.

Happy Hour banned in Barcelona

Happy Hour has been banned in the bars and nightclubs of Barcelona in an attempt to curb stag and hen party-style binge drinking, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Drinking establishments will no longer be able to offer 2 for 1 drinks, ladies’ nights, or any other promotion that encourages punters to drink more for less. The move is in part aimed at ridding the streets of Barcelona of drunken tourists visiting the city on stag and hen weekends.

A Spanish judge has indicted three suspected former nazi concentration camp guards on charges of genocide and ordered their arrests, CNN reports.
Two of the suspects, Johann Leprich and Anton Tittjung, each 84, are thought to live in the United States, while the third, Josias Kumpf, also 84, is believed to live in Austria.

Spanish police have dismantled a major drug trafficking ring on the holiday island of Ibiza with the arrest of 25 Britons and the seizure of 23,300 ecstasy tablets, AFP reports.
The 18 men and seven women, all from Liverpool, were detained in dawn raids last Friday in seven locations across the Mediterranean island, including a pub in San Antonio thought to be the ring’s centre of operations.
